After Nigerian Student Fashion and Design Week’s (NSFDW) partnership with African Fashion Week Houston, Glitz Africa Fashion Week and Swahili Fashion Week, the brand has been enjoying more international recognition and support.
Currently, two young Nigerian-Americans seat in the position of its international goodwill ambassador; young volunteers who have decided to channel their resources to support emerging African fashion brands.
Edidiong Obot, Founder/CEO E. CHRYS Enterprises, a company that specializes in strategic planning and logistics, brand development and business management solutions, supports the Nigerian Student Fashion and Design Week because she loves what it stands for and the opportunities it provides for newbies in the industry.
“It is interesting to see how the world is finally catching up to our fashion back home. Nowadays, you see people from around the world wearing our fabrics, sewing our styles, and hiring our designers. What’s amazing about this, is the fact that through our fashions, people who knew a little or nothing about our culture are now more inquisitive. From Ankara to lace, the fashion industry back home continuously sets the standard in African Fashion”, she says.

For Deborah Adeloye, an account coordinator by profession, expressed excitement to be a part of the NSFDW’s dream.
“I fell in love with the brand and I thought it was important to support them in my own little way. The fashion week I believe, will give room for future collaboration between designers, groups and countries. It will help to promote entrepreneurship skills. The platform is an opportunity for the young designers to present their collections in the presence of fashion industry professionals, companies, sponsors and clients in the global world. The fashion Industry in Africa for example, in Nigeria is becoming burgeoning. Fashion designers are getting more creative with their imaginations to help people meet the satisfaction they need at every occasion. Nigerians are adopters of inventions and this make it easy for gifted people with inventive ideas to strive well in the society”, she said.
