Don’t wait for anyone to love you, love yourself, Yul Edochie advice colleagues
Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has advised fellow celebrities not to depend on others loving them but rather love themselves.
The 36-year old actor gave the advice in a tweet on Thursday in reaction to recent allegations that there is no love in the Nigerian movie industry.
His message comes barely a week after filmmaker Charles Novia, urged celebs not to expect love from the industry, citing that hate and competition are needed to push the industry forward.
Yul wrote: “They say there’s no love in Nollywood.
“I laugh. Brethren there’s no love anywhere, not only in Nollywood. The world is tough, it’s a jungle out here.
“My advice: Don’t wait for anyone to love you, love yourself, help yourself.”
His message comes amid increasing spotlight on the state of relationships in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
In the past few months, celebrities have been complaining about hate, unnecessary competition gossip, envy and backstabbing among them.
First was actress Iyabo Ojo, who late last month, lamented what she called gossip, envy, and backstabbing in Nollywood.
Similarly, actor Kevin Ikeduba also decried the lifestyle of Nollywood stars in an Instagram post on Friday, December 7, insisting that the relationships depicted in public were false.
Comedian AY Makun also supported Kevin’s position, relating his own experience about the envy and division in Nollywood.
