How to keep warm in this rainy season

It is that time of the year when the heavens open and the rain pours. In this rainy season, which has been tagged as the ‘perfect weather for two’, one is likely to catch a cold if certain lifestyles are not adhered to.

So it is time to say goodbye to the sundresses and certain habits as this long rains call. You would be needing all you can to stay warm; from sweater to umbrella to boots, to raincoats, to long scarves and more to enjoy the weather.

Here are tips on how to stay warm in this rainy season:

– Bath with warm water

A cold shower is definitely not an option for the rainy days. Using warm water to bathe, keeps the body warm and protected.

-Wear thick clothes like coats, jackets, scarves and the likes. An under-layer, which is a layer of clothing ( such as stockings, leggings, long under wears etc) that goes under the normal clothing, would also be ideal.

– Exercise

In this rainy season, you would likely want to stay cuddled up under a duvet or blanket. Get going and fight the cold engaging in exercise. Take a walk or go jogging (if it is not raining), or do some work-outs so you can sweat it out and release some heat.

-Eat the right foods

Infuse warm beverages, soups or warm lemons into your menu. Also, eat more fruits especially those rich in Vitamin C and vegetables to boost your immunity from cold.

– Try insulating your home

Switch out the insulation in your walls or ceilings. You should consider closing your windows but remember to open them for fresh air on sunny days. You should also replace light curtains with thicker curtains.

-Always carry an umbrella or raincoat
It is advisable to carry an umbrella or raincoat as you step out because, the rain can pour anytime of the day. By doing so, you save yourself from catching cold or ruining your make up, hair or outfit.

-Prepare your bed

After a long day, a good night sleep is the next thing. In this rainy season, you would want your bed to be cozy. Ensure you use thick bed sheets and duvet to feel warm while asleep
