Film director, Tope Oshin is 40!

Film director, Tope Oshin is 40, today.
Born on June 10, 1979, to a Pastor father and Pastor mother, she took to social media to express0 her gratitude to God when she wrote:

“J. U. N. E. 10 2019. #TopsAt40 
Gratitude and Joy all round. ” she wrote.

Tope Oshin, who is also a producer and casting director was celebrated in 2018 by OkayAfrica as one of the Okay100 Women.
 With film credits including ‘Journey to Self’, ‘Fifty’ and ‘New Money’,  film maker, Tope Oshin has constantly pushed the envelope and redefined excellence with her films.

She studied Economics at the University of Ilorin before changing her course to Public Administration and then studied Theatre Arts, TV & Film Production at Lagos State University. She also studied Film production and Cinematography at Colarado Film School of the Community College of Aurora, Denver and Met Film School, Ealing Studios, London respectively.


Tope Oshin began her career as an actress where she was in the industry for almost 12 years, featuring in films like Relentless before delving into directing, working as a n assistant director for The Apprentice Africa.
She became popularly known for directing a lot of soap operas such as Hush, Hotel Majestic, Tinsel and Season 6 of MTV Shuga. Tope has also directed numerous films such as Journey to self, The Young Smoker, Till Death Do Us Part and so on.

Oshin is no doubt a force to reckon with in the industry having produced Blockbuster movies such as the 2015 Romantic film Fifty and the 2018 highest grossing “Wedding Party 2”.
Tope is married to Yinka Ogun and their union is blessed with two children Ayomipe and Oluwaferanmi Ogun.
Tope in the course of her career has won numerous awards which include; Movie director of the Year at the City People Movie Award and Merit Award for Best Programme Director at the Nigerian Broadcasters Awards.
