Beyoncé features Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy and Yemi Alade in new Lion King album
American singer, Beyoncé, has released The Lion King album and it features Nigerian singers, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, and Yemi Alade.
Ghana’s Shatta Wale, Cameroon’s Salatiel and South Africa’s Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly are also on the soundtrack.
Beyonce refers to the album as her ‘Love letter to Africa,’ adding that she featured many acts from Africa because she wants it to be about authentic music from the continent.
“I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa and not just use some of the sound or my own interpretation of it,” she said in the interview.
She is also wearing custom made African outfits and accessories from Dakar, Senegal in the music video.
Beyonce has four solo songs on the album alongside collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, and her daughter, Blu Ivy.
The Lion King is getting a live-action remake from Disney, twenty-five years after the release of the original classic.
Already, Nigerians and indeed Africans on social media are sharing positive reactions to the tracklist on the Lion King album.
