Stage set for Lagos Annual MAMA party 2016

In six weeks time, all roads will lead to the MTV Africa Music Awards in Johannesburg. The Lagos’s annual road to MAMA party, hosts an amazing array of artistes come Sunday October 2, 2016 at the Hard Rock Cafe, Lagos.The MTV Africa Music awards debuted in 2008 recognising the talents of musicians, achievers and personalities from across Africa. It has also rewarded music icons and game changers like 2Baba Idibia, Big Nuz, Davido, D’Banj, Flavour, Gangs of Ballet, HHP, Fally Ipupa, Liquideep, Mafikizolo, Lira, Nameless, Lupita Nyong’o, Clarence Peters, Diamond Platnumz, Anselmo Ralph, Sarkodie, P-Square, Tiwa Savage, Cabo Snoop, Toofan, Trevor Noah, Zebra & Giraffe, Uhuru, Wahu, Yemi Alade, and many more.

Dancehall sensation, Patoranking is billed to perform at the occasion. Last year, he had wowed Durban fans at the event and carted away the award for MAMA Best New Act 2015. Joining Patoranking is hip-hop freshman, Nasty C and fast-rising Hip Hop star, Ycee on the MAMA stage in Johannesburg. Others to grace the ceremony include, rapper Skales, ”Lagos to Kampala” crooner, Runtown, Pop/Highlife newcome,r Koker and award-winning ‘Love don’t care’ songstress, Simi.

MTV Base will be revealing nominees in 7 different MAMA categories, including Best Female, Video of the Year and Artist of the Year at this year’s gig. Disc Jockeys on the wheels of steel include DJ Xclusive, DJ Humility, DJ Kaywise, DJ Hazan and DJ TTB.

It would be recalled that the previous edition of the awards held in Durban, South Africa had musical duo,Psquare winning Artist of the Decade, Best Group Award while D’banj won MTV Evolution Award while Davido went home with African Best Male Artist, and Yemi Alade Best Female.
