Korra Obidi shares why it is important to ask questions
Dancer and new mom of one, Korra Obidi wants people to ask questions rather than accept a situation or an explanation as it is given.
In many African cultures, children are raised not to ask questions as it is considered rude. Infact, in some tribes in Nigeria, asking an elder questions means he or she is lying but Korra said, asking questions is not rude.
WHY?
Not a lot of people ask this question.
Growing up in Nigeria, it is considered rude to question your elders and subconsciously, we all stop asking. At least I did.
I started to go with what everyone was doing. Forgetting to ask WHY?
My husband askes WHY all the time, he needs to know the WHY to everything.
At first it was so annoying, answering him felt like he was always attacking my intelligence, always questioning my life.? Answering him was uncomfortable sometimes, but then he said to me, ‘if you are uncomfortable with my questions, it probably stems from an insecurity of not knowing as much as you should’ This shook me.
Curiosity breeds knowledge and Knowledge is power. Know your why today.
Question everything.
It isn’t Rude, it is essential.
You might be surprised what answers you will receive.
