“Stay away from people who suffer from “scarcity mentality”

Media personality, Toke Makinwa is warning against having a relationship with miserly people because they have a scarcity mentality.

In a new vlog she tilted, “Scarcity mentality is a problem,” Toke says miserly people hate to spend on themselves, let alone spend on other people.

According to her, dating a miser is so exhausting, and even when spends their own money, they will always be excessive even for the basic things of life to them.

Read excerpts below

Dating a miserly man is like a disease. Dating a miserly woman is like hell fire. I don’t understand the logic behind people who are miserly. What are you people afraid of?

I used to be afraid of being poor a long time ago but then, I wasn’t miserly, it just made me double my hustle. I find out that when you’re dating a guy who is stingy to himself, it’s the worst kind of relationship you can be in, you’ll always be excessive in his books. And these are some of the things we need to consider before coming together.

For instance, I might be coming from a family where we take vacations twice a year, where we put on the generator when there’s no light and we live in a certain area in town because it’s our preference. It’s very important you find out who you are dating very well. Know him in and out. If you are dating someone that suffers from scarcity mentality, you will be in trouble for the rest of your life.

Those are the people that always see you as excess, there’s nothing you do that is right. A stingy man does not see the need for you to want to change your hairstyle. Your own money they want to control, they judge you. I’ve never dated a stingy man before. I can’t even date them. You can’t even toast me if you are stingy because by the time you look at me from head to toe, you’ll know I’m not the one for you.

I believe in savings but people with scarcity mentality are like in a race with poverty. It’s like they always convince themselves to find normal basic things as wasteful. Those kinds of boyfriend that if you borrow money from them and you did not pay back, seven months later, they’ll say, ‘I remember you never pay back that money.’

Someone told me a story of how she had no cash when she wanted to pay toll gate fare. Her man, who was sitting beside her paid for it and he collected it back from her.

Or those kinds of guys that will invite you out for a date; when you invite me out for a date, the bill is on you because you invited me. if I invited you, I will also volunteer to want to pay. If it’s a mutual agreement, then, we can split the bill. I don’t even believe in slitting the bill. For me, I’ve already paid a lot. I got up, I got dressed, I wore makeup; do you know how much I’ve spent already just to see you.

They will now bring the bill and you will now be counting what you had versus what I had. Please let’s begin to rebuke them. Those kinds of guys that suffer from scarcity mentality, they will not find me.

Stay away from people who suffer from “scarcity mentality” for your own peace of mind or you’ll defend why your kids should go to good schools, why you want more out of life, you’ll always explain yourself forever.
