The test of friendship is truly in the times of trials and plane crash survivor and singer, Kechi Okwuchi says that her friend, Somakudi, passed the test.

In an Instagram post, Kechi Okwuchi who flew down to Nigeria to attend Somakudi’s wedding, shared how much she means to her. According to her, Somakudi was there for her through the period of her accident.

She explained that Somakudi would leave many personal businesses to attend to her. For Kechi, Somakudi’s show of friendship at the hardest time of her life, has shown that what they share will definitely stand the test of time.

She wrote,

This melanin goddess of a bride is the reason I decided to make a trip to my home country, Nigeria.
I’ve never talked about this publicly, but…7 months after my accident, I was briefly transferred from Milpark Hospital Johannesburg, SA, to Shell Hospital Lagos, Nigeria.

Somachi met me and my family outside the airport and insisted on riding in the ambulance with us to the hospital, for no other reason than to offer her support. As I was laid on a bed, Somachi prepared to stay overnight with me, insisting on sleeping in the bed beside mine so she could watch over me through the night (the nurses didn’t let her in the end tho lol)

Fast forward to 2015, when my aunty and I were headed to Port Harcourt for the 10 yr anniversary of the plane crash. Somachi got off a flight for a business trip, found out where I was headed and booked a ticket on our plane on the spot, saying she wanted to help however she could. She forfeited whatever plans she had that day without a second thought, to be with me on this extremely important day.

These things may not have been much to @somakudi but to me they represented a friendship that would stand the test of time and distance come what may, where we fall right into our usual banter the second we see each other, as if years haven’t passed between us.

So when she told me she was getting married, she assumed I’d be there in person because duh, and I assumed I’d be on her train because duh😂😂😂
