AY under fire for wading into Iran-US conflict

Nigerian comedian and actor, Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has come under intense criticism on social media platforms over a post he shared concerning the ongoing dispute between Iran and the United States of America.

Qasem Soleimani, a top military commander in Iran, was last Friday killed in an airstrike at the Baghdad International Airport.

Tension has since been mounting with both countries issuing threats and counter threats. Iran would later launch a ballistic missile attack on US military bases in Iraq in retaliation.

In an attempt to advocate for peace, the comedian took to his Twitter page to share photos of some American soldiers and their loved ones with a caption: “War is not the answer … #IranVSAmerica”.

The post, however, did not go down well with some Nigerians on Twitter, where they tackled the comedian for not celebrating Nigerian soldiers who have been fighting insurgency in the country.

“AY… There is no war anywhere. The only place you have war is Nigeria. Direct your sympathy to where it should go… BH is killing our soldiers,” a Twitter user said.

“How many times have you led a hashtag on the fight against boko haram and support of the Nigerian soldiers ??,” another user said.
