When provoked: Keep your cool and speak gently

Its really not easy to keep your cool when highly provoked but it pays to keep calm and speak gently.

A friend shared her ordeal with a client and it has a great lesson hidden in it .

Friend: Nancy that your softness and calmness while talking can be helpful oo

Me: What happened this time ?

Friend : A customer of mine provoked me , the normal me would provoke and flare up and speak rudely and loud.

Was surprised I heard me speaking so calmly and also explaining things to her. Was asking myself why am I talking like you?

Me : That’s a good thing you did, hope it paid off .

Friend : Yes ooo, the customer after everything came around to apologise and even placed more orders .

If I wasn’t mannered and in perfect control , I would have flared up.

That will further annoy the client and I’m certain she wouldn’t have placed more order.

This doesn’t only apply to business settings , its great to be kind ,soft spoken and not be easily provoked .

Even when provoked , it’s noble and matured to be absolutely in control of words we spew.

You can forget what you’ve said but the recipient will always remember.

No matter how much you apologise, the recipient can only forgive but won’t forget.

If you can’t keep your cool when provoked , its best to keep mute till when you are in perfect control.

It pays to be articulated and in perfect control of what you say especially when you are provoked and tempted to blast the other person.

Don’t spew those mean word so easily , you will definitely wish to take it all back.

When you are provoked , keep your cool and speak gently.
