Burna Boy, Falz, DJ Cuppy Other Entertainers Celebrates Nigeria At 60
DJ Cuppy, Burna Boy, Banky Wellington and Falz were among the Nigerian entertainers who took out time to celebrate the country on her 60th independence anniversary.
Burna Boy, Afrofusion singer, took to Twitter on Thursday to commend all citizens who have remained resilient and maintained faith in the prospects of the country despite the evident odds.
“Celebrating every Nigerian that chooses to persevere and thrive despite the adversities! May your lives continue to be an expression of grace,” he wrote alongside a photo of himself with the nation’s flag.
“I cannot wish anyone a happy independence when my people are not happy. What are we celebrating? Fuel price increase? Electricity tariff hike? Hardship?” Yul Edochie, an actor, asked.
“Bad roads? Killings everywhere? Jobless youths turned beggars? The list is endless. Speak the truth. Nigerians are suffering.”
In Falz’s words: “The situation right now is far from the Nigeria that we want to see. This goes without saying. However, we must never lose the zeal to transform our state of affairs.
“True patriotism rests on fighting to get our country to its best version & we have to be a lot braver in challenging anyone seeking to frustrate those efforts. We should be more together.
“We are all peculiar in our own different ways, but It’s time to realize that our biggest strength is the richness in our diversity as a people. Happy Independence Day, Naija.”
Banky Wellington also penned a few of his wishes for the country. He said: “‘Patriotism is loyalty to your country all the time, and loyalty to your Government when it deserves it.’ – Mark Twain.
“I hope we realize that the Nation we seek starts with me and you. I hope we learn to talk and do. Happy Independence Day Nigeria.
