Legendary actress Cicely Tyson who passed away at 96 on Thursday afternoon, as confirmed by her manager has thrown the entire filmmaking industry into mourning.

According to the Manager, Larry Thompson, who worked with Cicely Tyson for over forty years, she was indeed a blessing.

“I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing,” her manager, Thompson, said in a statement. “Cicely thought of her new memoir as a Christmas tree decorated with all the ornaments of her personal and professional life. Today she placed the last ornament, a Star, on top of the tree.”

Nigerian celebrities via their social media pages have joined in paying tributes to the lost gem.

Meeting #cicelytyson in person was on my bucket list. Her movie #autobiographyofjanepittman was one that transformed my life. I wanted to become and actress so bad. She is everything. Talented, skilled, beautiful and so creative. I used to watch all her interviews back to back and soak up everything she said. My consolation is that she lived her life to the full and achieved goals that could take two life times to achieve. May her soul rest in perfect peace. #RIP
