Meghan Markle files formal complaint with ITV regarding Piers Morgan’s comments about her
Meghan Markle has filed a formal lawsuit with British broadcaster ITV about Piers Morgan’s remarks on Good Morning Britain about her mental health.
When hosting Good Morning Britain on Monday, March 8, Piers Morgan asked whether the Duchess of Sussex was telling the truth about having suicidal thoughts.
His remarks sparked outrage in the Uk, prompting a rebuke from the mental health charity Mind.
According to CNN, the Duchess of Sussex complained to ITV about Morgan’s comments and how they could diminish the severity of mental health issues. Morgan’s attacks were not personal, so the complaint was unrelated to that.
After casting doubt on whether Meghan had suicidal thoughts, ITV announced on Tuesday, March 9 that Piers Morgan would leave the show he hosted, “Good Morning Britain.”
“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” ITV said on Tuesday. “ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
Also, UK broadcast regulator, Ofcom, said it had received over 41,000 complaints about Monday’s edition of “Good Morning Britain,” and had launched an investigation under its “harm and offence rules.”
