After months of delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 93rd Oscar award ceremony, one of the most awaited film industry activities, eventually took place on Sunday, April 25.
Daniel Kaluuya was recognized as the best supporting actor for playing the Black Panther leader Fred Hampton in “Judas and the Black Messiah.” “Soul,” the Pixar film about a Black musician stuck between Earth and the afterlife, added to the celebration of diversity, winning best-animated film and score. The Walt Disney Company, which owns Pixar and Searchlight, won a total of five awards.
