CHIOMA AJUNWA’S 25-YEAR LONG JUMP RECORD IS BROKEN BY ESE BRUME
Ese Brume, a Nigerian athlete, has beaten Chioma Ajunwa’s 25-year African women’s long jump record in the United States.
Brume broke Ajunwa’s record of 7.13 meters established at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games by leaping 7.17 meters in the Chula Vista Field Festival in California.
Her new leap record also makes her the global leader in the women’s long jump ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which have been postponed. She succeeded on her sixth try, jumping 6.75m, 6.83m, 6.83m, 6.88m, and 6.83m, respectively.
