Super TV CEO Murder: Court orders remand of Chidinma Ojukwu for 30 days
A Yaba Chief Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the murder of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga, in prison for 30 days.
Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adedayo issued the order on Monday, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
In her ruling, the magistrate said: “In the absence of any opposition, the two defendants are hereby remanded for 30 days in the first instance.
The case is adjourned till September 5, for review of remand/DPP’s advice.
Ojukwu, a 300-level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos, was taken to court on Monday for allegedly killing Usifo.
Usifo was found dead with multiple stab wounds on June 16 at a service apartment on Adebowale Oshin Street, Lekki Phase I where he had checked in with his lover, Ojukwu.
Ojukwu, who was consequently arrested on June 23 over the murder of Usifo Ataga in a service apartment recently, said she was able to kill him because he was weak.
She confessed to stabbing Usifo with a knife under the influence of drugs and withdrawing N380,000 from the victim’s account with his ATM card.
She, however, recanted later in a video, saying she acted in self-defence.
Usifo, 50, was buried on July 30.
