International Men’s Day: Folorunsho Alakija schools on why men should be celebrated
Today is International Men’s Day, and Nigerian billionaire businesswoman and philanthropist, Folrunsho Alakija has taken to her Instagram page to educate on why there is a need to set a day apart to celebrate men.
According to her, according to World Health Organisation, across the world, suicide rates are significantly higher for men compared to women.
She noted that like women, men are also imprisoned by unrealistic societal expectations and stereotypes and they are just as much in need of celebration and support as women.
She then celebrated all the incredible men who are positive role models to young ones and a loving pillar of strength to their families and communities.
“Today is International Men’s Day, a global annually day set aside to recognise and celebrate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of men.
The day aims to highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men’s well-being, and celebrate boys’ and men’s achievements and contributions, for their contributions to the nation, union, society, community, family, marriage, and childcare. Today is International Men’s Day. You may wonder why we need a day apart to celebrate men. It is my opinion that men are just as much in need of celebration and support as women. A thriving society cannot be possible without equal focus on both genders.
I celebrate all the incredible men who are positive role models to young ones and a loving pillar of strength to their families and communities.” She wrote.
