Wizkid shines at MOBO Awards
It’s been an amazing year of wins for music superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun aka Wizkid, as last weekend he, yet again, clinched two at the 2021 MOBO Awards.
In the event held at Coventry Building Society Arena, Coventry, UK, Wizkid won ‘Best Africa Act’ and ‘Best International Act’.
For the Best African Act, Wizkid beat Burna Boy, Davido, CKay, Tiwa Savage, Rema, Tems, NSG, King Promise and Ayra Starr.
The second, Best International Act, fielded a solid list of nominees: Kanye West, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, Polo G, Rema, Skillibeng, and Young Stoner Life (Young Thug and Gunna).
This recent win has increased Wizkid’s MOBO trophies to five.
The event, streamed live on YouTube, was hosted by artist and actress, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and comedian and broadcaster, Munya Chawawa.
The MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards is an annual British music award presentation honouring achievements in “music of black origin”, including hip hop, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.
