5 weird things that treat acne and pimples

Every woman wants to have that flawless skin that is blemish-free, but you might be shocked to find out what some people have used in the past to clear out their nasty breakouts.

Desperation most likely accounts for why anyone would consider some of the weirdest solutions to tackling acne and pimples. have seen so far.

Below are 5 weird ways to treat acne and pimples. They actually work.

  • Banana peel

Apparently, not only is it healthy to munch of this chewy goodness, but you can as well go ahead and rub the peel on that pesky pimple that has refused to go. It has been proven that banana peel does work wonders for clearing acne. Research shows that it contains a chemical called Lutein and a host of other vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, B, C which help curb inflammation and then cure acne.

Method: Wash your face with a cleanser and pat dry with a towel. Pick a small piece of banana peel and rub it on the affected area until the inside of the peel turns brown. Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing with warm water. You can also leave it overnight and wash it off the next morning.

  • Potato

This root crop is packed with potassium, sulphur, phosphorous and has been rumoured to perform wonders when it comes to acne. Potatoes contain vitamin C which can help even tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation caused by acne.

Method: Simply cut-off a portion and rub the white part of the root on the pimple. Wash it off after some minutes and if you keep doing this, you will surely notice a difference soon. You can also grate half a potato into a pulp and apply this pulp directly on to the dark spots and wash it off after 15-20 minutes.

  • Coal tar

Coal Tar is known to belong to a group of drugs called Keratoplastics. When applied to the skin, it aids in shedding dead cells and also slow down the growth of new ones. This way the skin avoids trapping bacteria that causes pimples.

  • Snail slime

That’s right. The next time you happen to come across a snail, remember that even dermatologists approve of its slime for clearing out acne. Revered for its regenerative properties, the snail slime is now widely acknowledged as it helps restore damaged tissue and moisturise the skin.

  • Urine therapy

Gross right? But it might just be the ultimate cure to that breakout that is proving rather stubborn. It might sound disgusting but using your urine as a mask is a sure way to improve the condition of your skin.

Method: Rub on your face and leave on for 10-20 minutes then rinse off. The substance known as Urea found in Urine helps condition the skin against further breakouts.
