House Of Sota’s Tribute To Black History And Lifestyle
House of Sota, the Afro-continental US, and Nigerian clothing brand, recently hosted guests to an exclusive showcase of her spring collection in Lagos.
Tagged “Black History and Lifestyle,” the event was in commemoration of the Black History Month celebrated in the United States.
The new collection featured sensual urban, versatile and comfortable outfits that projected Africa’s culture and history.
Models paraded vibrant, youthful ensembles, including creative, colourful caftans, laid-back tracksuits, cardigans and beautiful kimono jackets with aso-oke trimmings. Edgy dresses and kimonos mixed and matched with aso-oke and adire were on display to the delight of the audience.
For Sade Balogun, Founder and Creative Director of House of Sota, the inspiration behind the collection is basically to celebrate Africa and Africans.
She noted that in Nigeria we do not celebrate the Black History Month “February is all about Valentine’s Day for Nigerians; so, I thought why not celebrate our history and lifestyle, celebrate ourselves as Africans, because we work so hard. And this will be done every year.”
The event which held at the Radisson blu hotel, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, was witnessed by top personalities in the political and diplomatic scene, including the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uchechukwu Ogah, representatives from the United States and Italian Embassies, amongst other personalities.
