YouTube has unveiled a star-studded lineup of artistes to perform at the 2022 Africa Day concert scheduled to hold on May 25.

In a recent statement, YouTube noted that the artistes to perform at the concert come from Congo, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Tanzania.

These artistes are Davido, D’banj, Busiswa Gqulu, CKay, Drizilik, Innoss’B, Kamo Mpela, Mayorkun, Reekado Banks, Yemi Alade, Zuchu and South African singer and dancer, Kamo Mpela.

The Africa Day which is marked annually to commemorate the establishment of the African Union (AU) in 2002, was previously known as the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963.

This will be the third edition of the annual concert and this year’s edition of the event would be hosted by Idris Elba, the British movie star.

About the event, the managing director of YouTube’s emerging markets, Alex Okosi, said the initiative is part of the platform’s drive to promote African artistes.

YouTube as a platform has been a mainline for connecting African artists to people all around the world and the Africa Day Concert is an opportunity to reaffirm YouTube’s support for African artists as they showcase the vibrant sounds and culture that makes Africa truly unique.”

Alex Okosi

This year’s concert would be streamed exclusively on YouTube via here.
