Talented skit maker, Apaokagi Adedoyin Maryam, better known as Taaooma, has said that she can’t act her skits on stage as she plays multiple characters by herself.
Taaooma who spoke to actress and presenter, Nancy Isime, about her evolution as a content creator, suggested that doing stage shows would amount to overstretching herself.
In her words;
“If not comedy, I honestly don’t know what I would have done. I wanted to be a doctor. Later, I switched to a lawyer. I got to university and was offered Tourism, which I actually love. It’s good if you love adventure.”
“I have done something on stage. But apart from maybe hosting [events], I don’t think I want to [explore that path]. It’s going to be difficult for me to act out a skit on stage because I’m like seven or eight characters.”
“If I was this person where it’s differentiated, it would’ve been easy. I might but, right now, it’s not on my mind.”
Though born in Nigeria to Nigerian parents, Tao as she’s fondly called, spent most of her early years in Namibia.
She started her online comedy in 2015 and rose to stardom in 2019 with a skit based on African parents taking their children to school.
