‘Virgin at 39, pride or stinginess?’ – Comedian Helen Paul wants to know

Popular Nigerian comedian, Helen Paul has asked a question about virginity on her verified Instagram page.

The mother of three is seeking for answers on the issues bothering virginity.

“Virginity at 39, is it still pride or stinginess?? Remember Menopause oh. Let’s discuss.. My friend needs an answer,” she wrote on Instagram.

This has caused lots of reactions from her followers as they continue to drop their different opinions.

Sopeinasore wrote: “Virginity at 39 is a sign of being possessed by manipulative witchcraft.”

Dorcas.owoade wrote: “It is a choice. I am 23 and I am still a virgin. I am still going to be like that for some more years. Cos I am not getting married anytime soon.”

Keneyin wrote: “Virgin at 39 people are
shouting because we don’t read and understand the bible. Fornication is a sin
before God and even man but, una decide
to remove that part. Menopause can come
at 20 or at any time so, don’t be deceived.
I know someone that got married before
30 and she has entered menopause
the husband did not know, after 3 years
marriage broke because husband found out
that wify does not menstrate monthly. We
are really blinded by sin.”

While another Instagram user, Joel wrote, “Dr., I wouldn’t totally subscribe it fully to pride or stinginess but rather just wanting to do what is right and not succumbing to societal pressure. What if the suitors are not coming like we all often times speculate that they do and the ladies or even guys in question, dey do shakara? What if there are personal issues that needs to be dealt with in order not to make a mess of the marital journey? Then of course we mustn’t sweep under the carpet the challenges of marital settlement especially in a continent like Africa; I believe you know what I am talking about here. So being a virgin at this age is not wrong at all but I will recommend that affected party must become intentional about settling down and let God lead the process.”
