Police to interrogate Burna Boy for detailed investigation of club shooting

Burna Boy

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has said that they will interrogate Afropop singer, Burna Boy, over the alleged shooting of two fun-seekers by his security team, in the club.

The Police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this in a Twitter post, said there is no way the police can conduct a “detailed” investigation without interrogating the musician.

His post was in response to a Twitter user who argued that the issue has nothing to do with the Grammy Award winner.

Identified as Adeshina, the user had asked the police to focus its investigation on the officers involved in the incident and “forget what Burna Boy’s haters said about him.”

In response, Adejobi wrote;

“Exactly what we will do. But there is no how d police want to have a detailed investigation without interrogating BB (Burna Boy). No way.”

“So, the level of involvement of everyone in the incident will determine his punishment or otherwise. We should not pre-empt what the report will reveal.”

One of the police escorts to Burna Boy, was said to have opened fire on Irebami Lawrence and Tolu, his friend, at the club located around Victoria Island in Lagos.

The shooting was said to have occurred after the singer allegedly made a pass at a lady said to be Lawrence’s wife.

Usman Alkali Baba, the inspector-general of police (IGP), had earlier condemned the incident, describing it as ‘unbelievable’ and ordered a probe into the shooting.
