Doyin Kukoyi calls out NAHCON over maltreatment
Actress and Master of Ceremony, Doyin Kukoyi, has criticized the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for the mistreatment of her and other Nigerian pilgrims.
She posted a video she had taken at the airport on social media.
She claims that even though many people had already paid for their Hajj pilgrimages in the past, their visas were only recently released.
On Sunday morning about 4am, they arrived at the airport only to be informed that the air space had been closed.
However, NAHCON pledged to offer a rescue flight. They were instructed to travel to Abuja after waiting for so long.
A one-way ticket to Abuja cost between N76,000 and N125,000.
Even though there were old individuals among them, they were forced to wait for an extended period of time when they arrived.
After that, NAHCON asked each passenger for additional N750,000. Elderly people who were unable to pay the amount requested help from their offspring by sending them money. Some people gave up and went home.
While they were being blocked from boarding their trip, she said that some military personnel’s spouses entered the area in style and permitted them to board a plane.
Each participant paid N3 million simply to travel for the Hajj, according to Kukoyi, and this amount is separate from the additional funds they were instructed to pay at the last minute. However, they were not allowed to board their flight.
