Anne Heche dies at 53
Hollywood actress, Anne Heche has died at age 53.
Her relatives removed the life support, and she passed away as a result.
A statement from her family reads:
“Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul.
Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy.
Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”
After colliding with her blue Mini Cooper on a roadway in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles on Friday, August 5, the actress had been in a coma ever since.
Heche was transferred to a neighboring hospital where physicians had been keeping an eye on her condition when the car crashed into a structure and caught fire.
The 53-year-old had suffered significant brain injury, and according to Thursday’s reports, things weren’t looking good for her. Her blood test also revealed that cocaine was present in her system at the time of the collision.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), Heche’s vehicle “erupted in heavy fire”, which took 59 firefighters more than an hour to fully extinguish. The two-storey home she crashed into was left “uninhabitable”.
The actress is “legally dead,” according to a representative, but she will temporarily remain on life support to see if she would be a match for an organ donation.
