Sola Sobowale: “I attained new fame when Kemi Adetiba brought me out”
Star actress Sola Sobowale, has stated that director Kemi Adetiba helped launch her career in a higher degree in the film industry.
Sobowale recently discussed her major role as Eniola Salami in Adetiba’s “King of Boys” in an interview.
Speaking about her relationship with the director, Sobowale said that Adetiba is so connected with her and knows her strength.
“There’s something about Kemi Adetiba. Kemi Adetiba will tell you who Sola Sobowale is. I don’t even know myself. Kemi knows me more than I know myself. Kemi Adetiba brought me out. I will say it anywhere. I don’t mind if it sounds like a broken record. I will echo it. I will sing it. I will shout it. She brought me out.”
The movie diva said that she never saw herself in motion pictures before but that she was compelled to see “King of Boys.”
In her words; “I don’t watch myself, but during King of Boys I had to watch myself.”
Sobowale entered Nollywood in 1992, but she shot to fame in 2001 when she portrayed “Toyin Tomato” in Wale Adenuga’s “Super Story.”
The 2016 movie, Kemi Adetiba’s ‘Wedding Party’, however, brought the actress fresh prominence.
In 2018, Adetiba’s “King of Boys” boosted the actress’ popularity courtesy of her dominant performance as the alpha female and the movie’s strong female lead.
