Queen Elizabeth II: Royal guard falls while watching coffin

September 15,2022
Share:

On Thursday, a viral video on social media showed the moment a royal guard fell while keeping watch over the late Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin.

The BBC was reported to have stopped the livestream after the guard was caught on camera falling down.

The video shared on social media, revealed the uniformed guard stumbling to his right twice before gaining his balance.

Moments later, the guard falls forward from the red podium onto the floor, and a swarm of officials and police officers rushed to his aid.

The guard fell as hundreds of thousands of mourners lined the streets of London for up to 30 hours to pay their respect to the Queen who died on last Thursday at age 96 after a 70-year reign.

Mourners were asked to pass the coffin without stopping to ensure that the line moved quickly throughout the day and night.

Around 3 p.m. local time, the body of Queen Elizabeth II arrived at Westminster Hall, followed by her son and heir, King Charles III, and her squabbling grandsons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

One of the Queen's guards has dramatically fainted in Westminster Hall, where Her Majesty is lying in state.

Shifts on the 24-hour vigil generally rotate every 20 minutes. #9News
