EbonyLife’s Mo Abudu, Idris Alba, partner on Africa-inspired movie
Nigeria’s media mogul, Mo Abudu has announced a partnership deal between her company, EbonyLife Media, and “Luther” star, Idris Elba’s production company, Green Door Pictures, to champion representation and diverse storytelling in the global film and TV industry.

According to Mo, in a post on her Instagram page on Thursday, the partnership will take a two-pronged approach with the aim of “replicating the successful model of the EbonyLife Creative Academy across the continent, and to develop a new slate of feature films and TV series that originate from Africa or the Diaspora.”
These co-productions between Green Door Pictures and EbonyLife Media will provide a diverse range of content for broadcasters and streamers, as well as theatrical distribution on a global scale.
Mo expressed excitement at the partnership, saying: “We at EbonyLife believe that collaboration is key in amplifying diverse voices. We are proud of all our partnerships worldwide and remain dedicated to building on them to further our mission of creating a more inclusive media landscape. We are excited about bringing these stories to your screens soon. While the process of producing these stories can be long and enduring, we are committed to sharing them with the world as soon as possible.”
Idris is best known for his starring roles in the TV show “The Wire” and Hollywood movies including “Beast,” “Three Thousand Years of Longing,” “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,” and “The Suicide Squad,” wants to work with budding African filmmakers, to ensure the continent’s talent gets the attention it deserves.
