How Olamide’s call turned my life around – Skales
Nigerian rapper, Skales, has opened up about how a phone call from senior musician, Olamide, turned his life around for the better.
The seasoned rapper, whose real name is John Njeng-Njeng, revealed that he had hit rock bottom financially after leaving his former label, Empire Mates Entertainment, as they refused to renew his contract due to lack of profit.
In a recent interview with media personalities, Skales recounted how a phone call from Olamide changed his life for the better.
“Olamide contacted me and said he loved one of my songs, Shake Body, and asked if I wasn’t going to shoot the video,” Skales said. “I told him I was homeless and couldn’t possibly shoot a video, and he sent me money. My God turned my life around after that video shoot.”
Skales revealed that Olamide’s assistance came at a time when he was broke and homeless. He added that after receiving the funds, he shot the video for Shake Body, which went on to become a commercial success.
The rapper expressed gratitude to Olamide for changing his life with just one phone call.
“My deal with them was done, and they refused to continue because I wasn’t doing well at that time,” Skales said. “But Olamide’s call changed everything for me. He believed in me, and his support turned my life around. I will forever be grateful to him.”
Skales has since become a successful musician and has released several hit songs, including the popular Shake Body, which was released in 2014.
