Review: Kenshu’s “Corporate Curve” Collection – A Bold Statement of Sophistication

Attending Kenshu’s “Corporate Curve” collection debut in Abuja on the 24th of May 2023 was an unforgettable experience. The private event was an intimate yet grand showcase of the creative genius of Kelechi Sandra Innocent and Sukurat Abimbola Memud.

From the moment the first model stepped onto the runway, I was mesmerised by the thoughtfulness and elegance imbued in every piece. The collection of midi dresses perfectly encapsulated the balance between corporate sophistication and bold, contemporary design.
One piece that particularly stood out was the all-white long-sleeved bodycon dress with a black overlay top.

The black cropped design rested delicately across the shoulders, creating an off-the-shoulder effect that added a dramatic flair. The contrast between the sharp black top and the pristine white body of the dress was striking, projecting an image of confidence and authority. It’s the kind of dress that immediately makes a statement while remaining professional.

Another favourite of mine was the green square-neck bodycon midi dress. The square neckline felt modern and flattering, drawing attention to the collarbone and shoulders. What truly set this dress apart were the open hems on the sleeves, which flowed elegantly and added a hint of playfulness. The short slit at the back allowed for easy movement, making it a perfect choice for women who are constantly on the go but want to look effortlessly polished.

The purple midi dress was another highlight, featuring a half-white collar and a crisp white line running vertically down the centre. This clever use of contrast created a sense of symmetry, while the white buttons added a touch of classic charm.

The tailored fit accentuated the model’s silhouette beautifully, and I couldn’t help but imagine how versatile this piece would be, transitioning seamlessly from a formal office setting to an evening function.

The orange midi dress brought a vibrant burst of colour to the runway. Its simplicity was elevated by a small yet perfectly crafted floral embellishment on the waist, drawing attention to the curves and adding a touch of femininity. The dress exuded a cheerful elegance, perfect for making a bold yet refined impression.

The collection also explored the richness of blue hues. One of the blue midi dresses showcased a deep royal navy tone that exuded understated luxury. The second blue dress intertwined navy and royal blue shades, creating a dynamic interplay of colours that felt fresh and exciting. The meticulous craftsmanship in these designs was undeniable, and they were a joy to behold on the runway.

The models themselves were the perfect embodiment of the collection’s spirit. Their statuesque figures and confident walks conveyed the strength and sophistication of modern professional women. Styled with sleek hair and minimal makeup, they allowed the dresses to shine while bringing each piece to life with poise and charisma.

Kenshu’s “Corporate Curve” collection isn’t just a lineup of beautiful dresses; it’s a celebration of empowerment and elegance. I left the event feeling inspired by the thoughtful designs and the powerful message they conveyed. It was a privilege to witness such a stunning debut.
