In a candid revelation, Nigerian singer, John Ighodaro, popularly known as Johnny Drille, has shared that his chart-topping song “How Are You My Friend” was born out of the profound impact of grief following the passing of his record label boss Don Jazzy’s mother.
During a recent interview with Hip TV, Johnny Drille unveiled the poignant backstory behind the creation of the song. He disclosed that he co-wrote “How Are You My Friend” with Don Jazzy, highlighting that it was the Mavin boss’s idea.
Reflecting on the inspiration, Johnny Drille stated;
“For ‘How Are You My Friend,’ the inspiration behind it was Don Jazzy losing his mum just a few weeks prior. I believe this song was his way of expressing his feelings, as many long-lost friends reached out to him during that time.”
