Fashion designer and cultural innovator, Glory Agbonita Ehizuenlen, Creative Director of Agbons-GL, has been honoured with the title of Creative Fashion Designer of the Year at the 2023 La Mode Magazine Green October Event, held at the prestigious Oriental Hotel in Lagos on October 1st.

Now in its 9th year, the Green October Event, a flagship production of La Mode Magazine, has evolved into one of Nigeria’s most influential fashion and humanitarian showcases. The award ceremony recognises outstanding professionals in fashion, art, media, and advocacy who are shaping their industries with impact and integrity.

Ehizuenlen received the award for her bold fusion of African heritage textiles and modern silhouettes, her consistent storytelling through design, and her cultural leadership in the fashion space. Known for pieces that celebrate indigenous craftsmanship, her brand has gained traction both locally and internationally, with features across major platforms and runway presentations in Africa and Europe.

The selection process for the Creative Fashion Designer of the Year award involved both public voting and an internal review by a board of respected fashion professionals. Judges for the 2023 edition included fashion industry icons.

“This award reflects more than personal achievement,” Ehizuenlen said backstage following the announcement. “It reflects the power of fashion to preserve heritage, uplift communities, and tell our stories in new, global ways.”

Her win marks a career milestone and confirms her place among Nigeria’s most respected creative designers. Ehizuenlen’s collections are widely recognised for their distinct signature merging traditional Edo and broader West African design elements with avant-garde tailoring and modern structure.

The 2023 Green October Event gathered celebrities, designers, influencers, activists, and dignitaries under one roof, not only to celebrate fashion excellence but also to promote disability inclusion and humanitarian efforts hallmarks of the La Mode initiative since its inception.

As Glory Agbonita Ehizuenlen continues to push boundaries with her designs, her recognition by La Mode Magazine adds another powerful accolade to an already impressive portfolio.
