A Spectacle of Passion, Rhythm, and Culture Unleashed by Goldivergent at St. Kitts, Nervis & Friends Association
Under the shimmering glow of disco balls and the pulsating rhythm of Caribbean beats, the audience at the St. Kitts, Nevis & Friends Association event held on September 15, 2024, was treated to an electrifying dance showcase that blended passion, skill, and cultural celebration.
At the heart of this spectacle was the dynamic duo performance choreographed by Osasere Gold Sunday Ehiakhina, also known as Goldivergent, a seasoned professional dancer who brought her artistic mastery to the stage alongside a non-professional dance partner, Grey.

Because it was a criteria to train with a non dancer and performed with him. Of which they were given 4 weeks to prepare this masterpiece.
The St. Kitts, Nervis & Friends Association event at Lewsey Learning Centre in the United Kingdom was strictly a Caribbean Dance Competition, where Goldivergent and Grey took the audience on an exhilarating journey through different dance genres.
Their performance unfolded in three distinct genres—Salsa, Soca, and Reggae with each telling a different story through movement which paid homage to the deep-rooted traditions of Caribbean dance, from the fiery passion of Salsa to the pulsating energy of Soca and the smooth laid-back rhythms of Reggae, Goldivergent and her partner navigated a dynamic spectrum of styles.
The salsa genre was the first dance segment and the duo performed ‘Estamos en Competencia’ by La Maxima 79, a song known for its dynamic rhythm and instrumental intensity.

Salsa demands precision, fluidity, and chemistry between partners, and Goldivergent led this choreography with confidence, blending fast footwork, body isolations, and partner spins that reflected the music’s energy. Complementing this dance was the visual narrative of the performance with Goldivergent dressed in a long-sleeve sequin crop top paired with high-waisted trousers, adding a touch of elegance and glamour that suited the sophisticated and rhythmic nature of Salsa and Grey who dressed in an all-black shirt and trouser ensemble, a classic yet simple choice that allowed the focus to remain on the movement.
The energy skyrocketed as they transitioned into the Soca genre their second performance which set the stage for the duo dancing to ‘Splinters’ by Shal Marshall. Soca is known for its carnival spirit, fast-paced movements, and vibrant expressions and Goldivergent embodied this with powerful hip movements, jumps, and high-energy foot shuffles. However, Grey struggled to keep up, which occasionally disrupted the flow.
The lack of synchronization between the duo was noticeable, though Goldivergent’s enthusiasm and ability to adapt to her partner’s pace compensated for this gap.
Reggae, the final genre of the night, brought a dramatic shift in tone dancing to Koffee’s “Toast”, the duo embraced smooth, grounded movements, characteristic of dancehall reggae.
The judges particularly noted Goldivergent’s ability to infuse a slow-tempo track with quick, medium-tempo movements, demonstrating a creative approach to reggae choreography. However, the performance wasn’t as polished as Salsa, with moments of disconnect in their movements.
Despite this, the performance captivated the audience, closing their showcase on an impactful note.
One of the highlights of the dance performance was in the Salsa and Reggae dance moments where storytelling took center stage.
The duo embraced controlled yet powerful body language, conveying the message of La Maxima 79 and Koffee’s song. Another highlight of the dance performance was Goldivergent’s careful selection of costume choices which complemented each genre’s essence and played a significant role in enhancing the visual appeal of their performance.
In Soca, the duo embraced a more relaxed and energetic look, wearing sweatshirts and trousers, with black head ties. This gave them freedom of movement while mirroring Soca’s street dance and carnival-inspired roots while for Reggae, they switched to shirts and denim shorts paired with sneakers, an outfit that embodied the relaxed, laid-back nature of the genre, allowing them to channel the effortless yet expressive movements of dancehall reggae.
At the event the stage lighting and backdrop, featuring twinkling star-like lights, created a dynamic and immersive atmosphere, enhancing the energy of each dance.
The choice of a disco ball as a stage element added an old-school, celebratory touch, fitting particularly well with the Salsa and Soca performances.
Goldivergent’s choreographic choices were a testament to her technical skills and versatility.
She seamlessly blended traditional elements of each genre while adding her own flair and expressive storytelling. Beyond technique and genre, the emotional depth of the performance played a crucial role as Goldivergent’s expressive storytelling was evident, particularly in Salsa and Reggae.
Her body language, facial expressions, and engagement with both her partner and the audience conveyed a sense of joy and celebration with the final moments of the Reggae performance bringing a notable improvement in their connection, leaving the audience with a sense of triumph and fulfillment.
Despite minor flaws in synchronization, Goldivergent’s three-stage performance was a bold, electrifying tribute to Caribbean dance. Her ability to seamlessly perform three different dance genres alongside a non-professional dancer showcased her technical skill, adaptability, and passion for dance.
While her partner’s inexperience was evident, her leadership and choreographic ingenuity ensured that the overall performance remained engaging and captivating which earned her an award-winning performance at the St. Kitts, Nervis & Friends Association event.
The event wasn’t just about competition—it was a celebration of Caribbean culture, rhythm, and storytelling through dance. Through this, Goldivergent has proved that dance is not just about steps but emotion, connection, and cultural expression—a sentiment that resonated with both the audience and the judges.
With her talent, determination, and continued refinement there is no doubt that Goldivergent will continue to push boundaries and create even more unforgettable performances in the future.
