The event, held at the weekend at the Bright Achievers School, Bariga, Lagos, had over 500 less-privileged children receive school bags, writing materials, pencils, biros, rulers, school sandals, exercise books and other items.

Their parents also benefited from the largesse as they received food items, clothes, shoes, and sanitary pads, household materials to help cushion the present towels economic hardship in the country.

Speaking at the event, the Program Manager, of Karis and Eleos Foundation, Chikezie Ekechukwu stated that the initiative was held to support less-privileged parents and caregivers to get their children and wards back to school. He added that with the provision of the materials, more children will remain focused in school,  to ensure they succeed in their educational pursuits.

We also observed that many pupils in remote communities have no writing materials that could help them do well in school. We aim to ensure these children get the support needed for a brighter future.”

Also speaking Adaeze Uzochukwu, FXTM Education Coordinator, Lagos, stated that the organisation partnered with the NGO because of their interest in helping to create a conducive learning experience for less privileged children for a better future.

Founder and Executive Director of the foundation, Bukola Bamiduro, said her organisation recognises that quality education is the bedrock of any successful community. Hence, there is a need to support a community like Bariga, where several pupils lack the basic materials to learn in school.
