Design Week Lagos (DWL), Africa’s premier design festival, has taken the city by storm, captivating audiences with a dazzling showcase of innovation, creativity, and design excellence.

The event, which kicked off on October 22nd at the LiveSpot Entertarium, Lekki, Lagos, has brought together industry leaders, designers, and innovators to explore the intersection of design, economic growth, and social change.
Founded by Titi Ogufere, Design Week Lagos aims to elevate Africa’s creative landscape and position it as a global design hub. The festival offers a diverse range of activities, including keynote speeches, panel discussions, exhibitions, and workshops, that cater to a wide audience of design enthusiasts, professionals, and students.
The opening day of Design Week Lagos set the stage for an inspiring week ahead. A message from the Vice President, delivered by Fegho John Umunubo, emphasized the pivotal role of design in driving Nigeria’s economic growth. The Commissioner of Tourism, Lagos State, Mrs. Toke Benson, highlighted the importance of design in promoting tourism and economic development.
A highlight of the day was a fireside chat titled “The Role of Design in Africa Rising,” featuring Titi Ogufere and HRH Olori Atuwatse of Warri. The discussion explored the potential of design to address societal challenges and foster sustainable development in Africa.
The subsequent days of Design Week Lagos featured a series of thought-provoking panel discussions and workshops. Industry experts, including Benedict Radcliffe, Dapo Akintunde, and Prof. Ayo Teriba, shared their insights on topics such as “Designing Economic Growth” and “Fostering Collaboration within the Built Environment.”
