Kulams Couture’s Bold Statement at Nook Fashion Weekend 2025: A Testament to African Excellence

In the ever-evolving world of African fashion, only a few designers can truly capture the essence of heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary sophistication and Deborah Eteh Iwuchukwu, the creative force behind Kulams Couture, is one of them.

This year, at the highly competitive Nook Fashion Weekend 2025, held from February 14th to 16th in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Kulams Couture stood tall among the finalists, presenting a collection that not only embodied the spirit of African pride but also reaffirmed her status as a designer of international repute.

The Nook Fashion Weekend has become one of the most anticipated fashion events in West Africa, drawing a global audience and featuring some of the most celebrated names in the industry.

This year’s lineup included Mai Atafo (Nigeria), Afia Achiaa (Ghana), and Kaijuka Abbas (Uganda) fashion powerhouses known for their distinctive contributions to African and global fashion. For Kulams Couture to be selected among the finalists in such a fiercely competitive space speaks volumes about her talent, innovation, and growing influence in the industry.

Deborah Iwuchukwu’s latest collection, Noble Stride, was a bold exploration of modern African masculinity. The collection featured an exquisite range of kaftans, each intricately designed to reflect a balance between traditional African aesthetics and contemporary elegance. The use of luxurious fabrics, bold embroidery, and innovative silhouettes made a powerful statement, setting her apart as a designer with a keen eye for detail and storytelling.

Some of the standout elements of the collection included; Impeccable Tailoring,The garments were structured yet fluid, allowing movement and grace while maintaining a regal aesthetic. A Rich Color Palette Ranging from deep earthy tones to vibrant hues of gold, emerald, and sapphire, the collection embraced the diversity of African fashion. Intricate Embroidery and Patterns as each piece told a story, incorporating handcrafted detailing that highlighted African artistry.

Kulams Couture’s showcase received widespread admiration from industry leaders, fellow designers, and fashion critics alike. Her ability to merge cultural heritage with modern luxury fashion was a recurring theme in post-event discussions. The collection was described as “a masterful representation of African excellence on the global stage”, earning her recognition as a designer capable of competing on international runways.

Beyond her runway success, Deborah Eteh Iwuchukwu’s dedication to pushing African fashion forward is evident in her work. She is not just designing clothes; she is redefining narratives, celebrating culture, and inspiring a new generation of fashion creatives. Her participation at Nook Fashion Weekend 2025 is yet another milestone in a journey that is undoubtedly headed toward global recognition.
