From Passion to Profession: Goldivergent’s Dazzling Journey Through Dance
By Josephine Agbonkhese
“Dance has been my passion, comfort, and driving force for as long as I can remember.” These words by Osasere Gold Sunday Ehiakhina, popularly known as Goldivergent, encapsulate the essence of her dance journey marked by dedication, resilience, and artistic brilliance for which she has made a reputation for herself on the global stage.

As a Nigerian professional dance artist, choreographer, and dance instructor, Gold specializes across multiple dance genres, including Afro dance, ballet, salsa, contemporary, street dance, and traditional, masterfully blending these styles to create a distinctive and expressive movement language that is uniquely her own.
Goldivergent’s love for dance began at an early age, fueled by hours of studying professional dancers and mimicking their movements. Her father recognized her dedication and enthusiasm and encouraged her pursuit of professional training, which became a turning point that shaped her artistic journey.
She started with ballet classes at a local studio, later expanding her repertoire through pop-up classes in Afro, jazz, contemporary, and traditional dance.
For Gold, these formative years deepened her appreciation for dance as a universal language and shaped her understanding of dance beyond mere movement—it became a way of life, teaching her discipline, resilience, and perseverance.
Dance is not merely a craft; it is a means of conveying authenticity and emotion—narratives that words alone cannot express, says Gold. One of Goldivergent’s greatest strengths is her ability to create choreography that balances technicality with emotion.
She approaches dance as both an art form and a means of communication, ensuring that every movement carries meaning. Whether she is performing, choreographing, or teaching, her work demonstrates a natural flow, smooth transitions, and a strong grasp of musicality, making her performances engaging and deeply expressive.
Goldivergent’s journey from a passionate learner to a professional dancer, choreographer, and instructor has been nothing short of remarkable. She credits much of her artistic growth to self-education, attending various dance workshops, and training at Zibravo Studio.
Influenced by renowned dance figures such as Kafayat, also known as Kaffy; Badgyalcassia; Miss Lulu (Olu Olaise); Jemima Brown; and Jay Kim of 1 Million Studios, Goldivergent developed a distinct style centered on storytelling, musicality, and technicality.
Through her journey, Gold has performed with renowned dance companies, including Black Bones Theatre, iDez Dance, and Jay Kim of 1 Million Studios, experiences that have sharpened her stagecraft and interpretative depth.
Her work as an instructor is equally impressive. From Progress Dynamic International to Lycée Français Marcel Pagnol d’Abuja, she has trained dancers in prestigious institutions across Nigeria and later expanded her impact to the United Kingdom, where she taught at St. Joseph Primary School.
Yet, it is in her choreography that Goldivergent’s artistic vision shines most vividly. She does not simply craft movement sequences—she constructs narratives. Her approach integrates musicality, emotional depth, and a keen sense of structure, resulting in choreography that is both technically impressive and deeply expressive.
At the core of her artistry is a commitment to storytelling through movement. She describes her style as a blend of structured choreography and open-ended spontaneity, ensuring that each performance feels organic yet meticulously crafted.
Moreover, she understands the profound role of music in dance, often stating that she either tells the story of the music through movement or uses music to bring her own narrative to life. Whether she is channeling intensity through powerful street dance routines or evoking vulnerability through contemporary choreography, she captivates audiences with genuine emotion and technical finesse.
Goldivergent’s artistic journey is not without challenges. One of her biggest struggles has been the delicate balance between preserving artistic integrity and making choreography accessible to diverse audiences. In an interview, she noted that some of her works required intricate “puzzle-solving”—aligning movement, message, and artistic vision.
Yet, these challenges have fueled her growth with areas for continued refinement. Over the years, she has received both acclaim and constructive critique from leading choreographers, using feedback to refine her craft. Her ability to adapt, experiment, and push creative boundaries speaks to an artist who is constantly evolving—one who refuses to settle into complacency.
Goldivergent’s career trajectory exemplifies the essence of passion turned into profession. From her early days as a young dancer imitating movements on screen to performing, teaching, and inspiring the next generation, she has carved a niche for herself as a versatile, expressive, and technically accomplished artist.
With her ambition extending beyond personal success, she aims to continue innovating, mentoring, and contributing to the global dance community.
Whether she is on stage, in a studio, or choreographing her next piece, one thing remains constant: dance is, and always will be, an integral part of who she is.
As Goldivergent herself puts it, “As I continue to grow and evolve as a dancer, I am excited to see where this journey will take me next. Whether it’s performing on stage, teaching the next generation, or simply enjoying the beauty of movement, I know that dance will always be a part of me,” and for those who have witnessed her artistry, there is no doubt—her journey is far from over; it is a story still being written, one movement at a time.
