By all appearances, Fasanya Oluwabanke, the creative director of MadebyAtarah Fashion Hub is not just building a fashion brand; rather, she is crafting a legacy.

With MadebyAtarah Fashion Hub, she steps into the industry as a designer who doesn’t merely create garments but weaves meaning, empowerment, and cultural depth into every stitch. Her brand is built around three distinct pillars known for elegance, boldness, and purpose, and it’s in this space that she began to make a name for herself in Nigeria’s dynamic fashion scene.

Oluwabanke’s path into fashion is one of personal evolution. Beginning as a model at university fashion shows, she was exposed early to the emotional and aesthetic power of fashion, that is, its ability to transform, elevate, and express. It’s this first-hand experience with the runway that sparked her curiosity for design.

But what makes her story compelling is not just the origin of her passion, but how intentionally she nurtured it. She went through formal training in a fashion school, followed by a focused effort to refine her skills, which underlines her sense of purpose and strong technical foundation, which is visible in the careful construction of her pieces.


There’s a maturity in how she reflects on her process: “Every dress I make tells a story and is made with intention and purpose.” This is not a casual statement; according to Oluwabanke, it is the thesis of her design philosophy. For Oluwabanke’s aesthetic vision, her work sits at an intersection of timeless structure and cultural storytelling. Her collections, such as the Clarity SS 20 and the Beloved Collection, are a testament to her love for rich detailing, elegant silhouettes, and structured garments that leave a lasting impression.


Her choice of influences, such as Winnie Couture’s elegance, Veekee James’ fearless flair, and the refined touch of Dress Sense, reveals an affinity for drama with grace and structure with soul. The drama in her silhouettes doesn’t come from excess but from a studied control of form, embellishment, and line.


One of the most compelling aspects of Oluwabanke’s work is her desire to emotionally connect with her audience. Whether designing bridal couture or evening wear, she intends to offer women garments that feel empowering. She speaks of confidence, beauty, and boldness, not just as external aesthetics but as emotions her clients should carry when wearing her clothes. Technically, Fasanya demonstrates a sharp eye for structure, silhouette, and fabric manipulation. Her pieces are intentional crafted not just for visual appeal, but for how they wear on the body and speak through movement. This is evident in the architecture of her evening gowns and bridal wear, which are often rich in detail yet controlled in execution.


That said, as her brand continues to grow, there are areas where deeper exploration could elevate her already impressive output. For instance, expanding the versatility of her offerings beyond formal wear into more diverse ready-to-wear options and also offering menswear could open her brand to a wider clientele while retaining her signature sophistication. There’s also an opportunity to experiment further with textures and unexpected materials, potentially pushing her storytelling further into avant-garde territory without losing the refined identity she’s carefully built.


Like many young designers, Fasanya is not immune to the growing pains of fashion entrepreneurship. She openly acknowledges the challenges of production logistics, scaling, and access to resources of which are issues that plague many independent African designers, but what sets her apart is her commitment to growth. Amidst that she is actively learning, networking, and investing in sustainable systems that will allow her brand to thrive.

Her transparency about these struggles reveals not weakness, but strength, it shows that she is building something real, not performative.
In the world of emerging African designers, Fasanya Oluwabanke is a voice to watch. Her work is not built on trends but on values, creativity, empowerment, and elegance.

Her collections speak not just to style but to identity, femininity, and cultural pride. With a few calculated expansions in creative range and structural support, she is poised to build MadebyAtarah Fashion Hub into a standout brand on the continental and even global stage.


For Oluwabanke, fashion is a form of storytelling and with each collection, she continues to write a narrative of bold, beautiful purpose one that not only empowers women but inspires a new generation of designers to stay rooted in who they are.
