Teeling Whiskey Unveils Blackpitts: A Bold, Unconventional Irish Whiskey in Nigeria

In a bold move to revolutionise the beverage industry in the country, Teeling Whiskey, Ireland’s trailblazing whiskey brand, has announced the launch of its unconventional expression: Teeling Blackpitts Peated Single Malt – a rare and distinctive Irish whiskey in Nigeria.
Inspired by Dublin’s gritty industrial past and reborn for the modern whiskey lover, Blackpitts is unlike anything else in the Irish whiskey landscape. It revives an ancient Irish technique: using smoke created by burning peat (or turf, as it is widely known) while malting the barley.

Jack Teeling, Founder and Managing Director of Teeling Whiskey, commented: “This process creates bold layers of flavour long forgotten since the rise of coal-powered distilling. The resulting smoky spirit is a nod to old-world craftsmanship, brought to life with a distinctly Teeling twist.”
Crafted in Dublin’s famous Liberties district – often referred to as the “Big Smoke”, Blackpitts is triple distilled from heavily peated malted barley and matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-Sauternes casks. The result is a wildly unconventional Irish whiskey, bursting with character, featuring tasting notes of BBQ smoke, grilled pineapple, and salted caramel sweetness.
Bold. Smoky. Unexpected. Blackpitts isn’t just a whiskey – it’s an unconventional experience in a bottle.
Now officially debuting in Nigeria, Teeling will launch Blackpitts at exclusive consumer events in Lagos (July 15th) and Abuja (July 17th), offering whiskey lovers and tastemakers a first sip of this award-winning expression.
Jack Teeling noted, “When we re-established Teeling Whiskey in 2012, our goal was to lead in expanding the variety and expression of Irish whiskey, while also reviving distilling in the city of Dublin.
With our Blackpitts Peated Single Malt, we managed to achieve both.
Through the combination of the age-old malting process – using smoke from peat to dry the malted barley – and triple distillation in our Dublin distillery, we’ve crafted a truly unique offering within the Teeling Whiskey family. Rooted in history but embodying a modern approach, Blackpitts is Irish whiskey at its most unconventional.”
Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, and sealed in a distinctive dark green bottle with a screen-printed, industrial-inspired design, Blackpitts is a standout addition to the Teeling Whiskey range – and a must-try for whiskey lovers seeking something boldly different.
