How Julia Omada Higgins-Peters Is Infusing “Goddess Energy” into Nigerian Haute Couture

February 7,2026

In an industry where many fashion labels compete for attention through trends and fast production, Chief (Mrs.) Julia Omada Higgins-Peters is taking a different approach—one defined by exclusivity, craftsmanship, premium fabrics, and a bold promise to make every client feel like royalty.

A fashion designer, mother of four, and highly educated professional with a background in Political Science and International Relations, Higgins-Peters holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Abuja. She is the creative force behind Diosa Virtuosa, a high-end fashion brand founded in 2017.

Unlike many brands that simply sell clothes, Diosa Virtuosa offers a feeling—a signature experience she describes as: “Become a Goddess with every stitch.” The name Diosa Virtuosa translates to “Virtuous Goddess” in Spanish, reflecting not only Higgins-Peters’ love for the Spanish language but also her deep understanding of branding. She intentionally chose a name that could compete with global luxury labels and position her brand comfortably on any international stage. “I wanted a name that can rival any brand in the world,” she stated.

This vision is evident not only in the name but also in the brand’s structure, tone, finishing, and the premium identity it is building. Diosa Virtuosa operates as a high-end, niche fashion house, focusing on haute couture and bespoke pieces rather than mass-produced designs.

At the core of its design philosophy lies a careful balance between tradition and modernity, featuring pieces that incorporate African hand-woven materials, Ankara, Swiss lace, French lace, and other exclusive premium fabrics. The brand’s approach is rooted in detail—something Higgins-Peters identifies as her strongest advantage in a competitive market. Her work is distinguished by precision finishing, perfect fits, and meticulous attention to detail, producing what she calls the “wow factor experience” for her clients.

Beyond the fabrics and stitching, Higgins-Peters has crafted a clear and consistent brand personality. The tone of Diosa Virtuosa is elegant, sophisticated, aspirational, and empowering—designed to make clients feel like a masterpiece. From everyday workwear to luxurious evening dresses, the label aims to deliver versatility without compromising on premium quality.

While many designers focus primarily on youth markets, Diosa Virtuosa intentionally embraces a broad luxury appeal. For Higgins-Peters, luxury is not confined by age; it is defined by taste, confidence, and the desire to stand out without being ostentatious.

In Nigeria’s high fashion space, Diosa Virtuosa is recognized alongside top couture brands, she believes her distinct advantage lies in her craftsmanship and signature finishing—areas she continuously seeks to improve while remaining open to growth opportunities.

Her aspirations include expanding into haute couture and bridal wear, with the ultimate goal of dressing A-list women and men whose style shapes culture.

In a market inundated with ready-to-wear and copycat fashion, Higgins-Peters is building a label for clients who desire something rare—something that feels uniquely made for them. If the trajectory of Diosa Virtuosa is any indication, Chief (Mrs.) Julia Omada Higgins-Peters is not just designing outfits; she is crafting a legacy, one goddess stitch at a time
