Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has just conferred the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP) on the new Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, at the State House in Abuja. Usman Baba, if confirmed by the legislature, will become Nigeria’s 21st Inspector General of Police and the 12th IGP since the country’s return to civilian rule in 1999. Baba takes over for Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, who was appointed on January 15, 2019. On March 1, 1963, Nigeria’s new police chief was born. He’s 58 years old. He is from Yobe State, which is located in northeast Nigeria.
