I Am A Youth Representative To The UN – Williams Uchembah
A few years ago, he was a child star gracing our TV screens with his performances. He has since stepped out of his acting comfort zone and evolved into a stylish youth advocate. He is Africa’s youth representative to the UN!
He now owns his own entertainment school in Abuja called, Prothesis.
Just when we thought we’ve seen all the sides to the actor, he surprises his fans with a Hit single titled, ‘Tingololo’. He bags what I call a John Legend inspired voice too.
I caught up with Williams Uchembah in Abuja for this chat and this was what he had to say.
What have you been up to?
I’ve been engaged with a couple of projects most of them youth related. I’m currently, the Nigerian Deputy Youth representative to the United Nations Youth Assembly in New York. I have an Entertainment school (Prothesis School of Entertainment) where I train young potential entertainers from across Nigeria.
What is the inspiration behind the song?
I’ve always believed that everything you do should have value or purpose attached to. The song is the story of a young rich guy who knocked down an orange seller on the street and on first encounter, fell in love with her. He eventually got her to go out with him, brushes her up and proposes to her and she finally said yes. The little lesson of the song is that if you have to ask a girl out, you should also be ready to give her the ring.
What is the aesthetic behind the song?
The aesthetic is simply an expression of what true love is, what it ought to be and what it looks like.
What would you not want to be caught wearing?
In one word? A fake.
Who is your favourite Designer?
I really don’t have one particular design. I appreciate beauty not minding the designer.
