Many times we shop good leather bags and we are rest assured that they will stand the test of time and last for years. It doesn’t matter the price you pay for the bag, you have to ensure you care for them so as to enjoy your bag.

The quality of the bag is just half the story. Taking proper care of your bags is as important as owning one. Ensure to pamper your bags the same way you do your skin. They are human with feelings – they were made from skin you know.

Stuff it up

Always ensure that your bags are properly stuffed up with either scarves, sweaters, acid free tissue paper, or any handbag shaper made for the purpose. Let them sit up properly in your closet. Keep them away from the heat.

Create a store house

There are various ways to store your bags properly. They will last longer if stored in their dust bags or cotton pillow case. Better still, you can pack them up in a box or carton. Never store them directly in nylon bags as this traps moisture and dirt.

On staying fresh and clean

Avoid putting your cosmetics directly in your bag as this causes spills, wear and tear. Tuck your makeup and lotions neatly in your makeup bag before putting it in your bag.

Use white chalk on stains overnight and scrub off with a clean napkin in the morning.

Use leather protecting products to clean your bags to maintain a shine. Be cautious to try it on a little hidden surface to make sure it doesn’t cause discolouration.

Place a nylon bag of baking soda in your bag and zip up for days, this absorbs any odor and leaves it fresh and clean.
