The Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week has come and gone but the memories and collections showcased by some of the designers will remain for long in our memories.
Top designers like Mai Atafo, Lanre Da Silva, Lisa Folawiyo, Jonhson Johnson, Bridget Awosika, DZYN, Kiki Kamanu, Ladunni Lambo, Fruché, IamISIGO, Ré, Odion Mimonet and others made each night’s show spectacular.
While some drew inspiration from pop culture, others looked to the African culture for inspiration.
Some popular personalities also took to the runway, like Chioma ‘Chigurl’ Omeruah, Noble Igwe, Tanya Omotayo among others.
We bring you a rundown of the collections off the runway, just in case you missed anything.
Kiki Kamanu’s collection which had Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah’, was seemingly inspired by pop culture and American political styles.
Ladun Lambo’s collection looked at home for inspiration. The collection featured designs crafted from Aso-oke with pleats brought to prominence.
Lola Nuraniya’s designs were edgy, with just the right touch of glamour. Her last design, spaghetti strapped affair was definitely for a woman on a mission.
iOla’s collection were quite alluring, playful, yet lady like.
The African print was on full display with the partnership between design house, Omilua and Vlisco, which saw models taking to the runway in beautiful, well finished designs made from Vlisco.
Johnson Johnson was a breath-taking collection. From the classical African music to opening with Style vitae boss, Noble Igwe, you would know the creative designer meant business.
His designs were well tailored and fitted. He added some pizzazz to his show but the most exciting of all was when he proposed to his girlfriend on the run way and she said yes.
Maybelline came up then, and showed off what their design team had put together. The make-up done by, new mum of triplets, Bimpe Onakoya and Lola Maja were works of art in themselves.
