Philips, a global technology company head-quartered in Amsterdam, with primary divisions focused in the areas of electronics, healthcare and lighting products, yesterday, formerly launched its Hair Clippers into the Nigerian market.

According to  Chioma Nweke, the general manager, personal health care West Africa, the barbing clippers business is a huge market, as it has been valued at €200 million (about N109bn) and a huge market to invest in majorly for men.

While introducing the new Philips Clippers, Nweke said it was therefore important to have quality and right products to cut hairs not skin.

‘I’m excited to introduce into the Nigerian market, the first clippers designed to ensure no bumps and less rash. Specially developed blades reduce the risk of cuts when clipping your hair or beard, offering the confidence of a precise cut and shave, without the humiliating damaged skin. It comes in two types for personal use and professional use, ” she said.

She added that the new Philips Clippers, took four years of market research to arrive at the current quality suitable for African.

Philips was established about 125 years ago, but came to Nigeria about 60 years ago and is determined to improve 3 billion lives globally by 2025. She added:  “At Philips, we strive to make the world healthier and sustainable through innovative products”

The event which took place at  Protea Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, also served as the grand finale of the all barbers competition which saw a winner go home with the new product and cash gift.
