Housewife beaten into coma for investing family savings in MMM

By Patricia Uyeh

In Lagos, a housewife simply identified as Mrs. Ogenyi was beaten into a state coma by her angry husband for allegedly investing the family’s savings in Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox, otherwise known as MMM.

The woman had invested their savings in the scheme without the knowledge of her spouse. It was gathered that her husband works as a driver with one of the commercial transport companies in the country and had travelled to his hometown in Benue for a visit. Not expecting him to return until after a month. The woman in question had thought she could get 30 per cent of her income and replace the money before her husband’s return.

However, the man had to cut short his trip and returned earlier than expected. Upon his return, he discovered that the family saving box was missing. He was actually saving the money for their new accommodation. According to Daily Post, he inquired to know who broke the saving box but his wife could not give him a tangible answer. He then resorted to threatening to beat her before she opened up to tell him that she broke the saving box and invested all the money in MMM.

Angered by her action, the husband descended on the wife, beating her to stupor. The next thing he did was to run out of the room, leaving the woman unconscious with their three-year-old son. He has fled to unknown destination.

It was their neighbours, who took her to the hospital for medical attention.
