Stars of Hidden Figures come out to play on the cover of ESSENCE February Edition

American actresses, who acted in the new movie, Hidden Figures, including, Taraji P, Henson, popular known as Cookie Lyons, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe came out to play on the February 2017 cover of ESSENCE magazine.
The cover went with a dark theme, which allowed the women to shine through in all their melanie glory
In their interview with the Black magazine, the three actress talked about how it feels to be in such an important movie, especially as black women in Hollywood.
In the movie, the women told the true story of the African-American women, who were instrumental to the early days of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) but were never recognized for their efforts, unlike their male and Caucasian counterparts, hence the title of the movie, Hidden Figures.
Taraji played the role of Katherine Johnson, Janelle was Dorothy Vaughan and Octavia played Mary Jackson.
Talking about being a part of such an important movie that is telling the story of African-American women that helped shape NASA, Taraji P. Henson says “When I was growing up, people told me out of their mouths math and science are for boys. I was told that over and over. Like, no one showed me how to fall in love with numbers. If I had a teacher like Mrs. Johnson, who knows, I might be on the moon.”
