#IWD2017: Event professionals celebrate Women’s Day with empowerment

Women have been urged to take a bold step towards the change that they seek as the International Women’s Day was celebrated by event management professionals at a workshop in Lagos yesterday.
One of the speakers at the event, Aronke Omame popularly called Sisi Lawyer noted that, for a long time, women had used silence to express their pain but that had to change, if they are really to take the theme of this year’s celebration to heart, which was “Be Bold For Change”
Brand expert, Nkemdrim Ogbuaku was also around to share some insights into how women entrepreneurs could marshal a captivating vision for their business and the need to have an elevator speech handy, as you never can tell whom, you will bump into and you have to sell your business.
The Event planning and Vendor services workshop which was also themed “Be Bold For Change” was organised by Nigeria Events and Wedding Group and it featured speakers from the industry like London trained, Bose Abisagboola, Aronke Omame, popularly called Sisi Lawyer, Bisi Sotunde, who was represented by Estelle and Queen Esther Ajayi. It was anchored by newspaper columnist, Elizabeth Badejo.
The speakers spoke on issues affecting professionals in the industry, from having the right attitude to their business, like punctuality, taking their business serious, handling the eternal challenge of balancing their career and family life, as well as being the perfect face for their brands.
One of the speakers, Bose Abisagboola of 2 A’s Events Limited also pointed out the opportunities that are available for international certification in the industry and how it goes a long way in boosting the profile and capabilities of the different brands in the industry.
Asides from the business of the day, there was a lot of bonding, sharing and motivation amongst the women at the workshop, whose organisation was spearheaded by Tokunbo Odusanya of NEWG.
